A Success Story: Furthering Research in Critical Defense Technologies
Per a recent press release, the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering’s (USD(R&E)) DoD HBCU/MI Research and Education Program has recently awarded $50.1 million to 98 university researchers at 21 historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), 49 minority-serving institutions (MIs), and one tribal college. These grants allow the 71 institutions to acquire research and scientific equipment which supports innovative research in critical defense technologies. Noteworthy is 26 of the 71 institutions are Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Minority Leaders – Research Collaboration Program (ML-RCP) members with some of the acknowledged researchers actively involved in the ML-RCP.
The AFRL ML-RCP is thrilled to see so many of its members receiving equipment to enhance their research capabilities and foster an enriched curriculum for individuals pursuing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics degrees. We hope to see more of our members take advantage of these opportunities and increase their relationship with DoD!
